Team India announced for Sri Lanka tour

The Indian squad for the Sri Lanka tour has been announced. The BCCI announced the squad for the T-20 and ODI series on Thursday. Command of T-20 has been handed over to Suryakumar Yadav.


The first match of the T-20 series will be played on July 27 at 7:00 PM in Pallekele. The ODI series will start from August 2 in Colombo.


The Indian team last toured Sri Lanka in 2021. The team played 3 ODI and 3 T-20 match series. The three-match series was won 2-1, while India lost the T20 series 2-1.

Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubman Gill (vice-captain), Virat Kohli, KL Rahul (wicketkeeper), Rishabh Pant (wicketkeeper), Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Dubey, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammad Siraj, Washington Sundar, Arshdeep Singh, Ryan Parag, Akshar Patel, Khalil Ahmed, Harshit Rana.

Bumrah was rested from the ODI series

The BCCI has rested Jasprit Bumrah, the senior Indian player who won the T-20 World Cup last month, from the Sri Lanka tour.


This will be the first assignment of Indian coach Gambhir

Gautam Gambhir became the head coach of Team India just 2 days ago. This will be Gambhir's first assignment as the Indian coach. The 42-year-old Gambhir replaces Rahul Dravid, popularly known as The Wall. Dravid's tenure ended after the T20 World Cup. Gambhir's tenure will last till July 2027.
